Word Trail

The word for today is HERO.

Two major problems this week: figuring out how to add feedburner to   my blog so y’all can sign up and get my new posts, and a fairly new washing machine that broke down and needed a new part.

My HERO husband found the solution to both problems. He researched online for info on machine breakdowns, took the machine apart and installed new switchty thingie, saving us from a painful mechanic bill. Now it is humming along in the background, also saving me trips to the dreaded laundromat.

And HERO husband studied feedburner directions and installed it on my blog so my site designer doesn’t need to be bothered with it. Please do subscribe so I can tell HERO husband his work is not in vain!

What does this have to do with writing?

Good question.

Every romance has a hero in it.

Who is your favorite hero?

In your writing, what qualities does your hero possess?

  1. Novels:
In Zane Grey’s Forlorn River, Nevada Jim Lacy sacrifices his reputation and succumbs to a life spent on the run in order to save his best friend’s reputation and his ranch. (intelligent, strong, fiercely loyal)

    Movies/TV:
I could think of several but I’ll stick to three:
    1. Spock of Star Trek: highly intelligent, better, faster, stronger than anyone else, deeply compassionate, fiercely loyal
    2. Steve McGarrett/Hawaii Five-0: highly intelligent, strong, compassionate, also fiercely loyal
    3. Adam Cartwright/Bonanza: highly intelligent, strong, compassionate, fiercely loyal

Definitely a trend in what is so appealing about all of them. 😎

  2. Hi Brenda,
Definitely seeing a pattern here : ) Heros are a mix of strength and gentleness with the wisdom to know when to be strong and when to be gentle!

  5. Hero handyman husbands are priceless and highly appreciated. However, the heroine (can we say that?) in my life was my Mom, Alma, who endured tragedies and illness with grace and honor and was a lifelong source of inspiration and encouragement.

Thanks for the venue, Angel girl.

  6. Melody,
To have either a hero or a heroine in your life is a wonderful thing. And nothing can take the place of a precious godly mother. We were both blessed by the example of our mothers.
