“Always” by Cynthia A. Lovely

THE WORD – Have you ever been faced with a troubled situation and you dreaded the outcome, not knowing what would happen?

I faced one this past week.

After continued prayer I remember crying out, “Lord Jesus, please take care of me.” And instantly, that sweet whisper swept over my soul, “Always…”

He is the King of all Kings yet He pauses to take a moment of time to remind His child of His great faithfulness. Amazing Love.

The problem was turned around and the week ended with a good report. I love my Savior!

We serve an awesome God!

“Savor Summer’s Short Stint” by Cynthia A. Lovely

A WORD – Savor: to appreciate fully; enjoy or relish.

Summer here, summer gone.

That is how it works in upstate New York. June may bring cool temps and many thunderstorms, July kicks in with heat and August winds down fast. Bringing crisp fall days and people wandering around sporting scowls and muttering, “where did the summer go?”

Don’t let this happen to you!

If you live in a similar climate, I encourage you to SAVOR the summer months. On sunny days, walk away from the chores (you can do it!) get outside, and soak up the rays. Whatever has to get done, will get done eventually.

Embrace words like: lake, ocean, beach, boat ride, hammock, sweet iced tea. (holdover from being around southerners last month, bless your heart)

Get up early. If you need more rest, grab a lounge chair outside.

  • Ride a bicycle.
  • Hike a trail.
  • Visit an outdoor evening concert. Preferably by a lake.
  • Savor fresh veggies and fruits from a local farmer’s market.
  • Spend time with friends.
  • Barbeque often.

To put this plan into action, we will probably purchase a new temporary gazebo this weekend. The old one is worn out from much use. It is worth the cost to add this “extra room” into our yard for our short…summer. I encourage you to plan now whether you are traveling or spending time at home.

Repeat after me: “I will SAVOR the short months of summer.”

Then when August days are closing, you can walk among the mutterers, exclaiming to yourself (softly) “What an awesome summer I had!”

How will you SAVOR your summer?

A Word: Nest

A WORD: Nest – Noun (from Wiktionary)

nest ‎(plural nests)

  1. A structure built by a bird as a place to incubate eggs and rear young.
  2. A snug, comfortable, or cozy residence or job situation.
  3. A retreat, or place of habitual resort.

My husband moved the new nest from our porch light so we wouldn’t disturb the birds going to and fro. He placed it in our old Christmas wreath on the garage. (the wreath had many different types of greenery so when it dried, I kept it)

And it worked…the birds are content to come and go and they like their new location. It is interesting to notice the changes in the nest as they continue to bring twigs and nest-building material to decorate their new home.

Following their example, I am also in Spring mode and adapting my own cozy nest to welcome the warmer weather and brighter days.

What do you do in your home when Spring finally arrives?

  • Lace curtains?
  • Bright, colorful throw pillows?
  • Beachy decor?

Please leave a comment to share your suggestions for creating a sweet Spring-time nest.

“Let’s Celebrate National Library Week” by Cynthia A. Lovely

A WORD – Library: a :  a place in which literary, musical, artistic, or reference materials (as books, manuscripts, recordings, or films) are kept for use but not for sale b :  a collection of such materials – Webster

As a young girl I fell in love with books.

The local library was one of my favorite places to hang out. I remember riding my bike to the closest branch and filling up my bicycle basket with new reads – awesome!

I still love my library but now I visit between two to four branches for variety on a weekly basis.

What will you do this week to celebrate your local library?

Bring a fresh bouquet of flowers?

A special thank you card?

Share some ideas so we can bless our librarians and library clerks this week!

“Are you overwhelmed? – Try the 5 D’s” by Cynthia A. Lovely

A WORD – Goal: something you are trying to do or achieve.

We’re already into March and I’m wondering how some of those New Year resolutions are working out for everyone. Instead of resolutions, I try to set goals. Resolution or goal, life still catches up and throws me off balance. Thinking about all the areas I hope to be productive in and feeling like I’m failing in each and every one. I’m finding myself overwhelmed and frustrated.

Work, church, home, people, events, circumstances….AHHHH! Am I the only one who feels this way?

Time to take a deep breath and set new, simple goals. Yes, must simplify to make it reasonable and doable.

  • Devotion: Jesus first. Every day with praise, prayer and the Word.
  • Declutter: Small tasks around the house, every little bit counts.
  • Delve: into writing. Get the words on paper, even if its short. Just write.
  • Discover: new friends, new places, new experiences. Make time for people.
  • Daydream: break for a rest. Take a walk, read a magazine, mail a greeting card, make a phone call.

Do you have a simple plan to set new goals?

Will you join me in the 5-D plan?

“Peeps” by Cynthia A. Lovely

A WORD – Peeps: people, especially one’s friends and associates.

What would we do without them?

My writer peeps keep me inspired, motivated and challenged.

I’m looking forward to seeing them all again in a few more months, at Blue Ridge Mts. Christian Writer’s Conference. Hope to see y’all there!

Do you have a good circle of peeps?

” ChristmasClinger” by Cynthia A. Lovely

A WORD  – “ChristmasClinger” – someone who refuses to end Christmas on Dec. 25th.

I confess to being a ChristmasClinger. The holiday comes too fast and is over with in a blur. Some of the best times are in the afterglow. No more rushing, less traveling, time to sit back and enjoy the sparkle and glitter. Curling up on the couch with pillows covered with sweaters, cozy soft throws, candles lit.

Table all set for after-holiday company and fellowship. We still watch Christmas movies in the evening. Life is good.

Any other ChristmasClingers out there?

A WORD – Autumn: the season between summer and winter.

I’m so grateful the “winter” part has not kicked in yet in upstate NY. Nights are cold but days are reasonable temps and the leaves are still colorful, though many are now scattered across lawns and sidewalks.

Because our life-speed has increased lately, this feels like a God-given reprieve to give us more time to prep for winter.

We are thankful.

Are you holding on to Autumn or ready to welcome the Winter months?
