Word Trail

What is your “word” for 2012?

Is there a word or phrase that keeps rolling over in your heart and mind as we enter this new year? Mine is “wisdom.” Scripture instructs us, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” James 1:5

The world around us is filled with confusion. We need to carefully consider our choices as we move from day to day, month to month and year to year. There are those who continually make poor choices in relationships, finances, job situations and then wonder why their lives are so mixed up and filled with turmoil.

I’m praying this year that God directs all my choices. In my family, my job, my church life, my writing. But I need His wisdom to make those right choices. And He promised to give us wisdom, liberally – all we have to do is ask!

I bet your “word” is totally different from mine. Is it focus? Discipline? Transition? Priorities? Or maybe something like peace, joy, thankfulness…

One word is easier than a long list of resolutions.

So, what’s your word?

  1. Joy is my word.

I’m going to really feel the joy and not hold it back.

    Nice post!

  3. Perseverance is my word. James 3:3 says that the testing of our faith develops perseverance. Already this year, our faith is being tested and we need the Lord’s help to persevere.

  4. Cindy,
My friend, I know you have been through so many changes this past year. And you have made it through them all. Trusting that 2012 will bring new blessings to you and your family.

  5. Some years He gives me a verse, other times it’s a word or even a scene (I hate to say vision, because I don’t want to sound all mystical). This year it’s a verse, Matt 6:33. The phrase that keeps going over and over in my mind is: Seek Him first.

  7. My word for this year is “follow” and it is weird that it should be, yet not so strange. You see, my word for last year was “trust.” Isn’t it true that one must “trust” someone before one is willing to “follow?”

I’ll tell you what, my “trust” last year led to my first book publication this year. Now it’s time to “follow” and see what happens this year.

  8. Peg,
Wow, I’m impressed. Trusting and following, leading to your first book contract. Please keep us informed where the following will bring you to this year! Congrats and thanks for stopping by…

  9. My word is the same as last year’s (though I thought of it more as my personal theme… but I like the one word idea better): hope. If I’m hoping, then I’m trusting God more.

  11. My word is “Quietness”. Isa.30:15

In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.

Our lives are all very busy and we forget that it is in quietness and with a still small voice The Lord speaks to us. So “Quietness” is my word.

  12. Donna,
Love this scripture. Love quietness. Not a word that you hear much anymore…
    God bless!
