If you look very closely, you can see a spot of red in this picture. That would be my visiting cardinal sneaking up on the birdseed bell.
Now that the New Year has arrived and we’ve received our first big snowstorm, I’m making a list of winter activities. But I truly need your help. The first snowfall is lovely. Several snowstorms later it begins to lose its appeal…
If you live in a cold climate, what do you do during the winter months to combat cabin fever?
What are some of your favorite winter activities that you can do only in the winter months?
It may be something as simple as wearing your favorite fuzzy red sweater to cuddling under a warm throw with a good book and a mug of hot chocolate. I would love some unusual suggestions. I’d like to incorporate some of the ideas into my writings. And it may help you think of some new ideas for yourself.
To those of you who live in a warm climate, what do you think you would enjoy about winter? If anything : ) Does this picture inspire you or make you want to catch the first flight out to Florida?
My hubby and I like to walk in the snow, and then come in and make hot chocolate with marshmallows and peppermint!

I’m in a semi-warm climate, I suppose. East TN can get pretty cold in January and February — although we’ve had pretty mild winters the past few years. I don’t like it if the temps dip below 40!! ha ha
When it does get cold and snowy outside — I like to bundle up and go out and with my camera to get some winter photos. It’s fun to find unusual things to capture images of — can’t say “capture on film” anymore, I guess. I live in the country, so there’s always plenty of barns and snow-covered cows to photograph. Frozen water on our ponds is pretty.
After that, it’s fun to come back in and look at the photos and post them to Facebook!

Oh Connie, you wouldn’t survive here where it can get below 0! Love your idea of going out and taking winter pics. I’ve been doing that myself a bit and really enjoy it. Snow is lovely…till you have to drive in it : )

I love the beautiful winter scene you’ve shared especially the “spot of red”. (That would make a neat title). 🙂
BUT I’m not a cold weather person so I would choose to fly to Florida to meet my pal, Melody. LOL!

When our kids were little, snow meant playing outside as long as we could stand it; watching endless movies and board games when we came in; and working together to make homemade vegetable beef soup, homemade chili beans, and homemade (not mix) chocolate chip cookies. Great memories! 🙂
Now I just stay in and work. 🙁

Vonda,
Sounds like some wonderful memories. Also sounds like you need a break from work to go out and play a bit!

Okay, girls. I am reading and roasting at the same time. It was 86 Sunday! You are always welcome to south Florida. Anytime. We have not had a winter yet, but we are feeding the “real” snowbirds.
It is interesting how God has drawn us together from totally different parts of the country. There is no downtime here, though. Very rarely do we “get cozy” with hot chocolate. You would miss that. Yes, you really would. Our son just moved to Green Bay. Uh huh. Driving a snowplow. Any readers in GB?
Getting back to Christmas:I love the fragrance of Christmas, especially the “imported” real trees. Heavenly. We can’t keep that, but we can continually give away the gifts and fruit of the Spirit freely. Against such, there is no law. Awesome. That is my daily goal for 2013. It is amazing to watch how a kind word brightens every conversation. Phenomenal. Love you all.Happy New Year.

Ah Melody, I was wondering if you would catch up with our comments! We were going to surprise you with a visit : ) Yes, it is interesting how God draws people together and I am so grateful we have stayed in touch all these years. And now we have our new mutual friend, Anita. Waving madly! If you love the fragrance of Christmas you would love our yard since we are surrounded by huge pine trees. I like your goal for 2013. And I can’t believe it was 86…we’re due for more snow tomorrow : (
