THE WORD – “Your words show what is in your hearts. Good people bring good things out of their hearts, but evil people bring evil things out of their hearts.” Matthew 12:34-35 CEV
Our words. Whether spoken or written. They reveal what is in our hearts.
God help me to have a clean heart, pure and right before Your eyes.
“You must keep all earthly treasures out of your heart, and let Christ be your treasure, and let Him have your heart.” – Charles H. Spurgeon
Scripture and quote from “Becoming a Woman of Worth Prayer Book” by Karen Moore.
So nice to meet you on Saturday. As I read your recent Lovely Lane post, I was convicted of my angry words I spoke today to a young boy, a semi-stranger at my door – who has come occasionally over the years to sell school fundraising items. He lives somewhere in the neighborhood. My husband normally handles the door – and, in fact pays the boy for the candy or whatever but says to not deliver the items, to give them to somebody else more needy – so the boy has been always assured a welcome by my husband — but as we were “in a disagreement” at the time, refused to answer the knock. The windows were open, TV was on – so the boy kept knocking. I yelled out words that were not nice, quite rude and did not reflect any resemblance to reflecting the love of Christ. I am humbled and ashamed.

Beth,
Hey, we all have those moments when we mess up and feel terrible. Repentance is a daily habit and we have a loving, merciful God who is so gracious to us! I guess we’re all learning every day so know that you’re not alone : )

Thank you for that reminder, Cynthia. My words often explode out of my mouth before my brain has time to filter.

Hi Sherry,
I know what you mean, we need to pause and think, before we speak those words!
