“Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul…”
I never fully realized the power of words till I had an article published. I remember my husband had taken the magazine to work so he could make a few copies for me to use as clips for my file. He forgot and left it in the copier. One woman read it. Another woman passed it on. It traveled from office to office and he received comments all day on my article.
It was a simple nostalgic story about my sister and I and our different personalities. This article resonated with these woman and each one had their own sister story to share. Dwayne called me twice that day laughing, because he kept being stopped in the hallway by someone else who had read my story. Great feedback, nice ego boost. But it also made me take a serious look at my writing. My words had influenced others. And yes, I felt the responsibility resting on my shoulders. Remember –
Our words are powerful.
They do make a difference.
What words have you written or spoken that you know made a difference to someone? Have you shared “pleasant words?”
My Grandmother told me words are like bullets once you shoot the gun you cannot take them back. They can kill, wound or inspire, make a person smile instead of cry, share loving words to someone in the depths of despare. Speak life to those around you and see what God can do.

Donna,
Wise grandmother! How true that we can never take back our words.
Thinking before we speak, or write is probably something we all
need to improve on. Thanks for sharing!

Ben Franklin once said, “Give me 26 lead soldiers and I will conquer the world” (speaking of the 26 letters in our alphabet). It is truly amazing how powerful the written word is. Jesus used the Word to combat Satan and drive him away. Words can bring healing to a broken spirit. Thank God for His Word!

This is a great reminder for the newlyweds out there (me) that you must learn to choose words wisely. They can slowly, over the course of a marriage, build up or tear down. This can also equate to photographs…once an image is out there, whether it brings out beauty and happiness or gets you fired (think facebook party pictures) you really can’t get it back. After taking pictures for others I’m staring to realize just how serious of an impact it can make on one’s life.

Tim,
Wise words from a newlywed! And so true. I have watched couples insult each other in front of
others, often in jest. But you can see the hurt expression on the person’s face, which is quickly
covered up as they try to laugh it off. God help us to think before we speak.

I am a big advocate of speaking positively… And speaking in fAith! Our words are designed by God to be much more powerful than we realize… And we will answer for each word. May every word i speak be edifying to the bearer.
Thank you, Lovely lady, for the reminder!

Joanna,
I agree, we need to speak in faith. There is enough negativity in this world and we don’t need to add to that. There is nothing like a cheerful or encouraging word from someone to brighten your day. On that note, I appreciate you, my friend! Miss seeing everyone this weekend…

Dear Lovely Lady,
Such an inspirational website. Thinking before speaking is required etiquette. May our gracious lord give us the wisdom to think, pray, then speak!
Warmly,
Bernadette

Cynthia!!! I’m sorry I haven’t gotten to really check in until now. I was only home 8 days in October, so I’ve been way behind on everything!
I LOVE your site, love what you’ve done! Looking forward to lots of great stuff coming from your new address. 🙂
