“Organizing is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it is not all mixed up.” – Winnie the Pooh
Writers – What is the best way to keep track of your submissions so you’re not “all mixed up?”
I keep a journal and also try to keep an updated Excel list. I’m sure there are many creative ways to choose from so please do share your most successful method!
Readers – how do you keep track of the books you read?
Do you use Goodreads or Shelfari? Any preference?
What writer, reader, or artist can work without some degree of controlled chaos? Yes, it is controlled, contrary to popular belief, in cute little baskets and such. I retired a month ago and cleaned up my chaos. . .best five minutes of my husband’s life. “Now, can’t you work better?” he snickered under his breath. I also cleaned out his shed. Retribution. I love retirement!
Now, on to the subject. That would be a nice problem to have: keeping track of Submissions. One is an easy number. Two might present a whole new course in organizing. I would jump up and down, put the hard copy in a Manila file folder, (maybe even buy some girly-looking flowerdy ones) with the name of where, and when it was sent and put it in a safe place in plain sight. And wait. And wait. And wait. . .Yep, that is what I would do. That is what I have done a few times.

Melody,
What can we do to inspire you to send out those submissions? You can’t boast of all your rejections like most authors do, unless you send out those submissions!

Dearest Cynthia, You are an inspiration just being you. This may surprise you, but granny writers are intimidated by all the myriad of choices. Where to start? Well, if you like my article, I will submit it to Reflections magazine.
Thanks for staying in touch all these years.
Melody
