A WORD – Comfort: A condition of well-being, contentment, and security. A condition or feeling of pleasurable physical ease or relief from pain or stress.
Yes, it’s a pretty winter scene. But after several weeks of single digit temps and icy roads, there comes a need for…comfort.
It can be as simple as a decorative mug of hot chocolate topped with whipped cream.
Or a furry leopard print throw to snuggle under on the couch.
Perhaps comfort comes in the soft whir of the electric heater with faux flames flickering, creating a cozy atmosphere.
Add to that the stack of books gathered from the local library, along with the latest home decor magazines. Ah…comfort.

Please add your email to the comment, thank you! Drawing will be next weekend.
Comfort fills me when I know I don’t have to go anywhere after dinner and I know I’m home to stay. I slip out of my clothes and put on my warm, snuggly, brushed cotton nightgown and slippers. Ahh!

Audrey,
Especially if its in the middle of a snowstorm! It is a comfort to “tuck in” at home and let the world slip by without us for a while : )

My bed, pillows and blankets are a great comfort when the weather is really cold… Who am I kidding? They’re always a great comfort 😉
Of course having a book to compliment everything makes it even better. ^_^

Samantha,
Thanks for stopping by. We keep several cozy quilts and throws in our living room to reach for when the temps drop down. We’re in the negative digits this weekend…brr.

I’ve always found winter especially enjoyable on a snowy day when we have a fire going and no place to go. Sadly, we haven’t had a single snowfall this year where we live on Hood Canal, in Washington State.

Robert,
How I wish I could send you some of our snowstorms : ) It seems every weekend another one comes through here in upstate NY. And yes, it is so much more enjoyable when you don’t have to be out in it!

For me comfort is when I experience the peace that passes understanding from the Lord. This happened yesterday. The peace of God was like a bubble as I drove two hours to go visit my daughter and her children. I’m getting to the point where I don’t like to do too much driving and, thank goodness for His peace, for I missed my turn and almost had a wreck. God’s peace let me go on in spite of the near danger. Praise His holy name! And praise Him for His perfect peace that brings great comfort!

My comforts of the season are spending time with my family. They give me peace and happiness and comfort. I love to sit in my comfy chair with my little daughter and read her books as we relax. When I am done reading to her I read my own books and hopefully this will be one of them I get to read while drinking my hot tea and relaxing. Amish fiction is my favorite genre.
Thank you for the opportunity.

Thanks for The Word, and your comforting words falling and warming my heart.
Throw and wool skirt, socks and slipper-boots keep my body warm and cozy.
As I’m writing the sun is out, brightening my room with its light that I forgot it’s cold out! Which makes me want to get some fresh air before the sun disappears and a full blast of subzero comes back.
