THE WORD – The Heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork. Psalms 19:1 (KJV) We are still enjoying the beautiful colors and thankful for reasonable temps…holding on to Fall as long as we can.

I am so grateful for the artistry of our Creator. And so thankful for His artistry in our lives.

These past few months have been a season of change for my husband and I. God has been with us every step of the way, leading, guiding, encouraging.

He is coloring our lives with the golden richness of hope and the vivid reds of revival, bringing new direction to our lives. We are walking paths I never thought we would be on.

And the funny thing is…it fits. It always amazes me when God prepares us for things; crafts, molds, and shapes us and we have no idea where it will end up until — WOW! That’s what He was doing all along!

How has God been “coloring” your life lately?

“Fair Colours” by Cynthia A. Lovely

THE WORD – “O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires. And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones.” Isaiah 54:11-12 (KJV)

I love the term, “fair colours.” ‘

It sparks the imagination and fits perfectly with the jewel tones of October.

And what a wonderful promise from the Lord full of color, richness and life!

“Faithful Friend” by Cynthia A. Lovely

THE WORD – “A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

[Proverbs 18:24]

Jesus, our unfailing friend. When the world around us assaults from all directions.

Jesus, faithful Friend.

As stress levels climb and no one seems to understand.

Jesus, faithful Friend.

Whether skies are gray or the sun is shining.

Jesus, faithful Friend.

Catching every teardrop.

Enfolding us in everlasting arms of Love.

Whispering sweet words of encouragement and hope.

Jesus, faithful Friend.

“Piano Practice=Worship Session” by Cynthia A. Lovely

THE WORD – “Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you…”  James 4:8

When our thoughts and our hearts reflect upon the Lord, we began to “draw nigh to God” and He responds, waiting patiently for our attention. We tend to forget that the Lord desires our time, our conversation, our devotion solely unto Himself. I love how He slips in at unexpected times when our thoughts turn towards Him. In the car. Taking a walk. Hanging clothes on a clothesline.

This week I sat down at the piano to go over some simple choruses and hymns, trying to discipline myself once again in music practice. Yet the practice very quickly turned into a worship session with tears, praise and thankfulness for all God has done in my life. Jesus slipped into the room with His gentle presence as my fingers played out the songs of salvation.

God is good. And faithful. A mighty God who understands our frailty.

Remember, in the busyness of your week, to draw nigh to God.

He is waiting to draw nigh to you.

“Not My Plan” by Cynthia A. Lovely

THE WORD – “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

Graduation Day June 28, 2015 -This was not our plan. My husband and I didn’t expect to be marching in to “Pomp & Circumstance” and wearing caps and gowns once again. But the Lord had different plans for us.

I thank God for 2 years of Biblical and Leadership training in Old Westbury, NY as part of Purpose Institute at Bethel UPC. The Lord directed us very clearly to follow this path and opened every single door for us, making it quite plain. I always need to be sure it’s the Lord’s will and He always makes it very obvious for me so I can’t wimp out : )

This was a major effort and involved traveling almost 4 hours once a month for an intensive weekend of training. Excellent teaching and wonderful fellowship. We worked hard for two years with this as a priority and God blessed us abundantly. Now we both have a 2 year degree in Ministerial Studies.

And we have no idea what is next.

But that is the beauty of Jer. 29:11 – God knows. And His plan is to give us hope and a future.

Have you found yourself in an unexpected place by following God’s direction?

“Confidence” by Cynthia A. Lovely

THE WORD – This scripture offers an amazing promise. It is one I cling to especially when my confidence dips low.

When I returned home this year after attending Blue Ridge conference, I thought about all the emotions involved that week. I met new attendees who reminded me of how I had been several years ago. Terrified, insecure, with a “what-was-I-doing-among-these-talented people” attitude.

I am happy to say that I have come a long way…but have such a long way to go. The emotions still rise and fall during these times. God is helping me to see that my confidence has to be centered in Him. I look around at others who seem so bold and aggressive and wonder about their background. Maybe they had confidence instilled in them from an early age. Perhaps they lived a golden life where everything went in their favor. I bet they all have a story to tell… and it is not the story we imagine it to be. I am grateful for the faith God is building in me and for the opportunity to encourage other newbies.

Is there some area in your life where you need more confidence?

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Phil. 1:6

“For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep they foot from being taken.” Proverbs 3:26

THE WORD – II Thess. 3:13.  Do you get weary of doing what is right?

Calling for some honesty here.

I admit I do. Not in the obvious choices of turning away from sin and the lure of the world. But in the every day choices and decisions in our thoughts and actions.

There are times I feel I know too much of what is happening in the background. Not by gossip or slander but because of certain situations we find ourselves in through no fault of our own. This knowledge can color my attitude and affect my response to others.

Yet, we are still called to “do what is right.” That means showing kindness and grace when we would rather run screaming in the other direction. Is this difficult? It can be : )  Have you ever felt like this?

More of Jesus. Lord, help us to see with clarity and know that You have it all in control. Nothing is hid from You.

Let’s not get tired of doing what is right.

THE WORD – “Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus…” Luke 24:1-3

Imagine coming to the tomb, prepared to face death and grief. Finding it empty because…”He is not here, but is risen.” Luke 24:6

Glorious News!

I pray you celebrate the joy of the Resurrection this Easter. Jesus gave us the path to follow: by repenting of our sins, (dying to self) being buried in water baptism in the name of our Lord Jesus for the remission of those sins (type of burial) and being filled with God’s Holy Spirit (Resurrection power!)

God bless you as we remember together the great sacrifice that set us free and gave us new life in Christ.

“What do you seek after?” by Cynthia A. Lovely

bible-verses

THE WORD – Seek me with all your heart…

We are almost into February and New Year’s resolutions are fading fast. Life catches up to us and engulfs us in every day time constraints and concerns.

Stop and consider: What are we seeking after?

Dreams and visions for the future are good. Is Jesus at the center of it all?

Matthew 6:33 King James Version (KJV)

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

In all our hopes and desires for 2015, I pray that we learn to Seek God first.

Not in a casual five minute devotional.

But in an earnest, heartfelt expression of I-can’t-go-another-moment-without-feeling His presence.

Washing our minds clean with His Word.

Saturating our hearts with the pureness of His Spirit.

2015 – Seek ye first…
