“Summer = More Time to Read!” by Cynthia A. Lovely

A Worthy PursuitGunpowder TeaSomeday Home by Lauraine Snelling

IN MY WORDS – I finished reading the first two books and enjoyed both of them. Karen Witemeyer is one of my favorite authors. I don’t read a lot of Westerns but Margaret’s book was truly a great read and worth the change of genre for me.

Heaven Help Heidi is the second book in a series and I am saving it for my vacation time, allowing the anticipation to build : ) I absolutely loved the first one in this series: Beween Us Girls. I would highly recommend it!

Also on the TBR list is Someday Home. I have read this author before and never been disappointed in her work.

What are you reading this summer? Any favorites or new authors you’ve discovered?

Foot, Pedicure, Body, Part, Human, Toes, Heel, Ankle

A WORD – frangible: readily broken; breakable.

And what does a foot have to do with this word definition?

I recently learned that a foot has many small, breakable parts and is at high risk for injury. Yes, through personal experience as I like to base my posts on facts : )

I happened to take a tumble down some stairs this week and landed on my left foot, turning my ankle. I want to pause here to say “Thank you, God,” for x-rays that showed no broken bones!

But it started me thinking about the term. I think this word may also be applied to a character. Someone whose feelings are easily hurt. Broken emotions. A sensitive spirit.

What would cause a person to be like this and how would they face their world? By shying away from everything? Or perhaps the opposite: adapting a strong facade and never letting their feelings show.

How would you describe this character’s past and what would they do to overcome this weakness?

“Not My Plan” by Cynthia A. Lovely

THE WORD – “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

Graduation Day June 28, 2015 -This was not our plan. My husband and I didn’t expect to be marching in to “Pomp & Circumstance” and wearing caps and gowns once again. But the Lord had different plans for us.

I thank God for 2 years of Biblical and Leadership training in Old Westbury, NY as part of Purpose Institute at Bethel UPC. The Lord directed us very clearly to follow this path and opened every single door for us, making it quite plain. I always need to be sure it’s the Lord’s will and He always makes it very obvious for me so I can’t wimp out : )

This was a major effort and involved traveling almost 4 hours once a month for an intensive weekend of training. Excellent teaching and wonderful fellowship. We worked hard for two years with this as a priority and God blessed us abundantly. Now we both have a 2 year degree in Ministerial Studies.

And we have no idea what is next.

But that is the beauty of Jer. 29:11 – God knows. And His plan is to give us hope and a future.

Have you found yourself in an unexpected place by following God’s direction?
