What new books have you read recently that you can’t stop thinking about?

I love those stories that linger on. You wonder how the characters are doing. You keep going over the scenes in your mind. Yes, the author definitely accomplished what they set out to do.

Please leave a book recommendation. Along with the reason why you enjoyed the story so much.

Was it the quirky characters?

The unusual setting? Or the intricate plot?

Was this your favorite genre or something different from what you usually read?

  1. The latest one I read that was truly amazing was, Wrapped in Rain by Charles Martin. I received it through the Amazon Vine Program. If not for that I may never have read this author. It’s not a typical book I would have picked up either. Now I want to read all his books. I should have my review up soon. It says it all.

  3. Carrie Daly and Griff Rutledge from Dorothy Love’s Beauty for Ashes. Their passion and genuine love will keep them together, but the differences in values and backgrounds will ensure their relationship is never boring. And Carrie’s sister-in-law… can a skunk change her stripes?

  7. Hi Cynthia,
I recently finished Heart’s Safe Passage by Laurie Alice Eakes. Loved it! Why? Because it’s big, sweeping historical fiction. You can tell how much Laurie LOVES history because it imbeds the details of the story. I did a video book review on it (my first) on my site and on YouTube. The other I recently read and was smitten by is Lisa T. Bergren’s “Breathe”. I’m doing a video review of that next week.
Here’s the link if you want to investigate: http://www.youtube.com/user/NaomiMusch?ob=0&feature=results_main
    Blessings~

  8. Naomi,
Thanks for stopping by with a recommendation. I’ll pass it on to some of my friends who love historical fiction. And thanks for mentioning Lisa’s new book. I don’t think I’ve read that one yet!

  9. I think Deliver Me From Evil by Kathi Mathias is one of the most powerful books I’ve ever read, as well as one of the most important. I expected reading about human trafficking would be boring and filled with statistics. Not so! The story is primarily told by Mara, but because she was abducted by the uncle she adored from her family at a very young age, not even she is certain how old she is.

Don’t let the subject matter put you off. It’s a book that is so difficult to put down; I even dreamed about it…dreams of hope and restoration. I’m excited to read the sequel Special Delivery which I just received today.

Mathias has a gift for layering, alternating between the abducted girls and the family who hopes to reveal their plight…

If you want an ‘important’ read, get this book. It actually inspired me to start a novel about a situation that has been haunting me.

  10. Bonnie,
Thanks for the recommendation and review. It is amazing what we can learn about the world around us – from the stories we read.
