I just read a non-fiction book which is unusual for me but it is part of a course I’m taking. “Ordering Your Private World,” by Gordan MacDonald. I’ve enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. It challenged me in many areas and I feel I’ve learned from this book. You’re welcome to share fiction or non-fiction titles. Celebrating a brand new year of books!
I read a lot of good books this year but these stand out in my memory today, in no particular order:
Forged in Faith by Rod Gragg – nonfiction about the spiritual foundation of the United States. Loved it. Well documented and well laid out. In fact, I’m going to be teaching a book study class at church with this one starting later this month.
Widow of Gettysburg by Jocelyn Green – historical fiction, gritty, real, soul-stirring in its perspective of the Civil War and particularly, the battle of Gettysburg. Can’t recommend this one highly enough.
A Memory of Light by Robert Jordan/Brandon Sanderson – fantasy and the long-awaited finish to the Wheel of Time series. Sanderson did a wonderful job of wrapping up a series that spanned 23 years in the writing.
Gunpowder Tea by Margaret Brownley – historical romance with spunky, memorable characters and a fun plot.
Victory at Yorktown by Newt Gingrich and William Forstchen – historical revolutionary war fiction I couldn’t put down. The 3rd in a series, it was also the best.
A Noble Groom by Jody Hedlund – historical romance set in my home state of Michigan. The story centers around German immigrant farmers… which could pretty much be my family’s history! Loved the plot twists in this one as well as the characters.

I just finished Dear Mr. Knightley by Katherine Reay. I posted a review of it at: http://www.pennyfrostmcginnis.com
It’s her debut and it is a delightful read. The story is written in letters and reveals the heart of a young woman whose life has been less than great. There’s also romance and reference to Jane Austen. I really enjoyed it.

Hi Cynthia. I didn’t get to read near as much as I would have liked to this year, but I put my best reads on my website with reviews. http://ow.ly/svM0z

Wow! I hate to admit it but I have a stack of books in my office and a list on my Kindle – all waiting to be read.
My favorite author is Ann Tatlock. I read Sweet Mercy a couple months ago. Her characters are so rich, they become friends. She weaves a story that is captivating. My all-time favorite is Promises to Keep. It won this year’s Christy Award.

Sherry,
I know what you mean. I go to the library too much and always have way too many books I want to read.
