Warning – Weather Tantrum here.
Since Memorial Day weekend we have had rain, rain, and more rain. Throw in a tornado for good measure and then add some more rain, rain, rain, but with the added novelty of hail and flood warnings. Summers in New York are short to begin with, three months tops if you’re lucky. According to the calendar, it is fast fading away into two months.
What to do, what to do?? If you’ve been overcome with rainstorms, here’s the plan:
- At any hint of sunshine, run, run, run outside! Grab a lawn chair, find a spot where you will not float away and soak up any rays that you can, while you can. Seriously. Drop everything else to do this. You need the Vitamin D.
- As soon as the rain starts in again, run, run, run back inside and catch up on all the housework, laundry, ironing, writing, etc. so when the sun shines again you can go back to #1.
I’m wondering about characters in a story and how they can be affected by weather. Maybe a recluse that won’t go out unless the sun is shining. Or for a different twist, they will only go outside when it rains. Is the sun shining in your world?

Well, since we’ve only had 0.02 inch rain since January 5th, a perfect summer day for me would be RAIN!! I’d fix an ice cold glass of peach tea and sit out in it, celebrating!
I wish we could swap weather for a while. Except the tornados. I lived in Oklahoma for years and lived through many tornados. I don’t want any of those, thank you very much 🙂

Oh, how I wish I could send you some of our rain! Had one sunny day yesterday but it’s drippy again today : ( I must say, I didn’t expect someone to choose rain as their perfect summer day. And a friend just shared how it is 100 degrees in Texas. So I guess we all have our climate extremes!

Well, a perfect summer would be to be back in Jackson Hole Wy. where the weather is usually only in the mid to upper 70’s and 80’s is a heat wave to the old-timers. Sitting out in the shade reading a book. Or, even better sitting out by Jackson lake where you can see the beautiful Tetons, and see their reflections in the lake. Breath taking. Oh, and catching some rainbow trout.
Back to reality since I am now back in Texas, any day in low 80’s which are far and few in between. Even high 70’s, but which probably won’t see again until maybe in late Oct. if we are lucky. I would love to win this book. MAXIE mac262(at)me(dot)com

My perfect summer day would be 74 degrees, sunshine, and low humidity–55% or less, which rarely happens in East Tennessee. Today isn’t bad, though it has rained all day. At least it is a nice summer rain and not thunderstorms. No wind. That’s good.
